Why get a degree in Fashion Management and Marketing?

With LCCA’s BA (Hons) Fashion Management and Marketing degree, you’ll explore the commercial, strategic and creative processes that drive the fashion industry. Combining fashion business knowledge with industry-focused skills, you’ll discover how brands are built, marketed and grown within a rapidly evolving global industry.
 
Throughout the course, you’ll develop expertise in fashion marketing, branding, buying and merchandising, consumer behaviour, trend forecasting and retail strategy. You’ll learn how to analyse markets, identify commercial opportunities and communicate brand identities while immersing yourself in the fashion industry and exploring factors influencing contemporary fashion.

You’ll work on industry-focused projects, develop professional communication skills through presentations and pitches, and complete an industry placement that provides valuable real-world experience.

COURSE STRUCTURE

What will you learn on a Fashion Management and Marketing course?

Throughout the course, you’ll explore fashion business, marketing, branding and retail strategy while developing the commercial and creative skills needed to succeed in today’s global fashion industry. Your learning will progress from core marketing and management principles to advanced trend forecasting, business development and strategic planning. This course is available as either a three-year degree or a four-year degree with Foundation Year. 

Foundation Year: Learn the foundations of fashion business and creative practice 

Our Foundation Year gives you the creative, technical and academic foundations needed for degree-level study in the UK. Through practical projects, research and creative exploration, you’ll build confidence, develop key skills and begin creating a portfolio of work.
 
Visual Culture
Explore how art, design and media communicate ideas and influence the world around us. You’ll develop visual analysis and critical thinking skills while learning how cultural, social and technological influences shape contemporary creative practice.
 
English for Academic Purposes, Research & Study Skills
Build the academic skills needed for university study, including research, critical thinking, academic writing and presentation. You’ll learn how to communicate ideas clearly, evaluate sources and develop confidence in your academic practice.
 
Final Major Project
Complete a self-directed creative project that brings together the skills you’ve developed throughout your Foundation year. From initial research and experimentation all the way through to a finished outcome, you’ll demonstrate your creativity, problem-solving and readiness for degree-level study.

Year 1: Learn the foundations of fashion business and creative practice

In Year 1, you’ll develop a strong understanding of the key principles that underpin fashion management and marketing. Combining creative thinking with commercial awareness, you’ll explore how fashion brands communicate, engage consumers and bring products to market while developing practical business and digital skills.

Fundamentals of Fashion Marketing and Communications
Explore the core principles of fashion marketing, branding and creative communication. You’ll learn how fashion brands build their identity, engage audiences and communicate their values across a range of traditional and digital platforms.

Fashion Event Management
Discover the planning, coordination and delivery of fashion events, productions and campaigns. You’ll develop an understanding of project management, team leadership and industry-standard practices while exploring the role events play in fashion promotion and brand building.

Fashion Buying and Merchandising
Learn how fashion products move from concept to consumer through buying, merchandising and retail planning. You’ll explore how fashion businesses balance creativity, customer demand and commercial performance to deliver successful collections.

Understanding Consumer Behaviour
Examine the factors that influence fashion purchasing decisions and brand engagement. You’ll develop research and analytical skills while exploring how social, cultural, economic and political influences shape consumer behaviour.

Year 2: Develop industry expertise and professional experience

In Year 2, you’ll build on your commercial and creative knowledge while developing specialist skills that reflect the evolving nature of the fashion industry. You’ll explore forecasting, retail innovation and consumer experience while gaining valuable professional experience through an industry placement.

Forecasting Fashion Futures
Develop the research and analytical skills needed to identify emerging fashion trends and cultural shifts. You’ll learn how trend forecasting informs business decision-making and create your own future-facing concepts for fashion brands and target audiences.

Visual Merchandising and Experiential Retailing
Explore how retail environments influence customer experience and purchasing behaviour. You’ll develop visual merchandising concepts and learn how brands create engaging physical and digital retail experiences that strengthen consumer connections.

Professional Development and Placement Support
Prepare for industry placement and future employment through professional development activities. You’ll build employability skills, develop your CV and professional profile, practise interview techniques and gain confidence presenting yourself in professional environments.

Fashion Industry Placement
Gain first-hand experience of the fashion industry through a professional placement. You’ll apply your academic learning within a workplace setting while developing practical skills, industry knowledge and a deeper understanding of how fashion businesses operate.

Year 3: Create future-focused fashion business strategies

In your final year, you’ll bring together everything you’ve learned to develop innovative business concepts and strategic solutions for the fashion industry. Focusing on research, forecasting, entrepreneurship and career planning, you’ll create a substantial body of work aligned with your personal interests and professional ambitions.

Strategic Research Proposal
Conduct in-depth research into contemporary fashion management and marketing challenges. You’ll investigate market opportunities, evaluate industry trends and develop a proposal for a future-focused fashion business concept.

Trend Forecasting and Concept Development
Explore the macro trends shaping the future of fashion while developing advanced forecasting skills. You’ll translate research into strategic insights and create original concepts informed by consumer, retail, cultural and industry developments.

Strategic Implementation and Career Planning
Develop and present a fully realised business proposal informed by your strategic research. Alongside producing market reports and visual presentations, you’ll reflect on your professional development and create a career plan aligned with your future ambitions within the fashion industry.

what are the entry requirements for this course?

The standard entry requirements* for this course are one of the following:

32 UCAS tariff points from accepted qualifications*,
Pass at Foundation Diploma in Art & Design (Level 3 or 4), 
Merit, Pass, Pass at BTEC Extended Diploma, 
Pass at UALAB Extended Diploma, 
32 UCAS tariff points from an accredited Access to Higher Education Diploma in appropriate subject,
