As part of our ongoing partnership, Global University Systems and THE NAT collaborated with the London College of Contemporary Arts to host a sustainability workshop this week, providing LCCA students with real-world experience in environmental fashion practices.
The well-attended virtual session, “Nature-Positive by Design: Fashion’s Next Frontier,” connected in-person and online participants via Teams to explore fashion’s environmental future.
Students engaged in dynamic breakout groups, addressing three key questions: identifying the fashion industry’s most crucial sustainability move, exploring LCCA’s collective potential to normalise nature-positive fashion, and determining discipline-specific actions for designing longevity.
This hands-on approach bridges academic learning with industry challenges, preparing students for sustainability-focused fashion careers.
Lucy London, Dean of Creative at LCCA, said: “This session brought climate change out of the headlines and into my students’ hearts and imaginations, translating urgency into creativity, and awareness into action. The room was alive with conversation and reflection.”
The workshop exemplifies the GUS x THE NAT partnership’s commitment to enhancing student participation through practical experience. GUS plans to further this initiative with other institutions in the future.
