Student Stories: Learning in Real Time – Marcela Balcescu

Marcela Balcescu, founder of Beauty Quantum Aesthetics and current LCCA student is growing her business by applying her studies to real-world practice.

Running my own business alongside studying hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey so far.

I run Beauty Quantum Aesthetics, where I work as an Advanced Skin Specialist and aesthetic injector from a private clinic. My background is in pharmacy, with nearly a decade of clinical experience in the UK and eight years before that in Romania, which has really shaped how I approach skin and patient care.

Over time, I realised I wanted to combine that clinical knowledge with something more personalised. That’s what led me into aesthetics – creating treatments that are not just about results, but about helping people feel more confident in a safe and informed way.

I launched my business in 2023 and, as it’s grown, I’ve been able to take it on full-time. Alongside that, I’m continuing my professional training in aesthetics, while also studying for a BA in Business Management and Entrepreneurship at LCCA.

My studies at LCCA have played a key role in strengthening my business, helping me develop more effective strategies for advertising, organisation, and day-to-day management. By applying what I learn directly to my work, I have improved how I plan, communicate with clients, and make informed decisions for growth. Being a student while running a business has also increased my confidence, discipline, and long-term vision. This journey reflects my commitment to continuous learning and to building a sustainable, professional, and future-focused business.

Stories like Marcela’s reflect how LCCA students are applying their learning in real time, building confidence, experience and something of their own while they study. More student stories from across our creative courses are coming soon.
