Here at London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA), we know every creative journey looks different. That’s why we’ve launched the bold new video series MAKING IT: Creative Careers Unlocked. Hosted by our Head of Industry Engagement and Partnerships, Sadie Clayton, this series spotlights real stories, skills and diverse career paths driving today’s creative industries.
In each episode, Sadie sits down with professionals at the heart of the fashion and design world – uncovering their unique journeys and the realities of what it takes to succeed. From visual merchandising to sustainable fashion to AI and technology, these conversations reveal the wide range of dynamic roles on offer and the innovative ways creativity is redefining the industry.
Bridging Students and Industry
It’s not all talk, though. MAKING IT creates real opportunities. Each featured company will collaborate with LCCA by developing live briefs for our students. This means the chance to apply their skills in real-world contexts, working directly with industry partners on genuine briefs and projects.
“Having navigated the fashion industry for years, I’ve learned that the most valuable currency isn’t just talent – it’s access to knowledge and genuine connections. ‘Making It’ is my way of democratizing that access, ensuring that career insights and industry wisdom reach every aspiring creative, regardless of their background or network.” – Sadie Clayton, Head of Industry Engagement and Partnerships.
Through these collaborations, LCCA students gain first-hand experience, real industry links, and grow the portfolios that kickstart careers in the creative sector.
A Resource for Aspiring Creatives
For anyone curious about the many career paths within fashion and beyond, the MAKING IT series is an invaluable resource. By showcasing behind-the-scenes roles, from shop floor innovation to global brand storytelling, this series opens doors to possibilities you may not have considered before.
Episode 1: Fashion Expression with Kelly-Ann from Oxfam

In our first episode, Sadie meets Kelly-Ann, manager of Oxfam Bethnal Green. Together, they unpack the art of visual merchandising, the importance of creative storytelling in retail spaces, and the inspiration behind Kelly Ann’s Pride-themed window display, centred on the empowering message: “Be Proud, Be You.”
This powerful episode is not only a celebration of individuality and self-expression, but also a reminder of how creativity can inspire communities and spark positive change.
