LCCA is gearing up to host the latest UniJam game jam, bringing students and aspiring game developers together for six days of game making, creative collaboration and putting their skills into practice.
Running from Sunday 23rd August to Friday 28th August, the game jam is completely free to join, with the option to take part in person at LCCA’s purpose-built Gaming Lab or online through Discord.
What is UniJam?
UniJam brings universities and creative institutions together to give students more opportunities to make games, develop their skills and connect with other people interested in the industry.
LCCA is part of the UniJam network alongside London South Bank University, London College of Communication, SAE Institute, Goldsmiths, University of London, Staffordshire University, ACM Academy and ICMP.
The jam kicks off this Sunday with the theme reveal, a chance to meet other participants, share ideas and form teams. You’ll then have until Friday to develop a game around the theme before everyone comes back together to share what they’ve made.
You don’t need to be a fully-fledged programmer to get involved. Game jams bring together people working across game design, art, animation, writing, sound and more, so there are plenty of different ways to contribute.
Meet our industry judges
For the final day of the jam, we’ll be joined at LCCA by two guests from the games industry, Karen Troop and Lauren Middleton, who’ll take part in a games panel talk and help judge the final projects.
Karen Troop is Head of Digital Production at Coolabi Group, with extensive experience across games, CG and animation. A BAFTA award-winning production and marketing lead, she’s worked across Unreal Engine, VR, AR and XR, as well as interactive and multiplatform projects for major video game titles.
Lauren Middleton is Senior Games Production Coordinator at Framestore, working across the games industry with a focus on production and audio. Her current work takes her into the immersive and VFX world, working with technologies including VR and AR.
Karen and Lauren will both be at LCCA on Friday 28th August to see what everyone has created over the course of the week and help judge the finished games.
Get involved
UniJam is free to join and open to everyone, with the option to take part on campus at LCCA or remotely through Discord.
Whether you already make games or you’re interested in giving it a go for the first time, you can find all the details and sign up through the UniJam event page.
