OVERVIEW

Enter the fast-paced world of hospitality and events with our BA (Hons) Hospitality Management and Leadership degree. Designed to develop your leadership skills and industry know-how, this course blends academic learning with hands-on experience, from real-world projects and management reports to guest lectures, field trips and live case studies.

You’ll build expertise in key areas such as digital marketing and branding, sustainable practices and event planning, while strengthening your ability to think critically and make confident decisions. Along the way, you’ll be encouraged to take ownership of your learning, developing the self-management skills that set successful leaders apart.

With a strong focus on sustainability, innovation and people skills, you’ll graduate ready to lead across hotels, restaurants, events and beyond. Careers include hotel management, event management, HR, restaurant management, and tour and travel management.

If you don’t yet meet the entry requirements, you can still join through our Foundation in Design and Creative Business (Level 3) before progressing onto the full BA.

Our Foundation in Design and Creative Business is your first step towards an undergraduate degree at LCCA. Whether you’re aiming for a creative course like Fashion, Games Art or Games Design, or a business-focused course such as Business Management and Entrepreneurship, this year prepares you with the skills, knowledge and confidence to thrive at degree level.

You’ll build core academic skills in research, writing, communication and digital literacy, while tailoring your projects to your chosen pathway. On the creative strand, you’ll experiment with areas such as fashion, graphics, moving image and crafts. On the business strand, you’ll explore innovation, enterprise and problem-solving in a creative industries context.

By the end of the year, you’ll complete a Final Major Project and build a portfolio that reflects your strengths and interests, ready to support your progression onto the full undergraduate degree.

COURSE STRUCTURE

FOUNDATION (YEAR 0) DESIGN & CREATIVE BUSINESS
This 30-week course is designed to equip you with the academic skills and subject knowledge needed to progress on to study at undergraduate level. You’ll develop a unique portfolio of work throughout the course, helping you to progress onto a degree in any creative subject.

Stage 1
The first stage covers the key areas related to your degree programme and will focus on either creative design or business. You’ll learn the theoretical knowledge and debates surrounding these disciplines and the historical and international contexts which underpin them. You will also begin to build the foundations for studying at degree level.

Stage 2
This stage builds on the key research, analytical and reflective skills built in Stage 1. You will also have the opportunity to explore specialist areas of study and focus on your chosen path within the creative arts or business.

Stage 3
You’ll undertake a self-directed, specialist project which will synthesise and conclude your newly learned knowledge. The Final Major Project consists of three units which include advanced language and study skills needed for progression onto an LCCA design or creative business undergraduate degree.

YEAR 1 (LEVEL 4)
In your first year, you’ll build a solid foundation in hospitality concepts and practices while developing the leadership and entrepreneurial skills to navigate today’s unpredictable business environment. You’ll explore the challenges faced by the industry and learn how to apply theory to real-world scenarios, preparing you to make confident and informed decisions.

Introduction to Hospitality – Concepts and Practices
In this module, you’ll explore the size, scale and scope of the hospitality industry, from hotels and restaurants to events and travel. You’ll examine how areas such as marketing, finance, HR and operations management are coordinated to deliver successful hospitality services.

Global Hospitality Environment
Here, you’ll study different types of hospitality organisations, from small enterprises to global brands. You’ll also analyse how external factors and stakeholder relationships shape business decisions across the sector.

Hospitality Marketing and Customer Experience
You’ll explore how marketing, operations and customer service work together to create memorable hospitality experiences. The focus will be on building strong brand promises and aligning them with customer expectations.

Leadership and Entrepreneurship in Hospitality
In this module, you’ll be introduced to entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership in the hospitality context. You’ll develop critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills while exploring what it takes to lead businesses or launch your own venture.

YEAR 2 (LEVEL 5)
In your second year, you’ll take on a live project that mirrors the challenges faced by hospitality managers today. You’ll strengthen your entrepreneurial thinking and apply your learning through simulations, data-driven analysis and stakeholder negotiations. The focus is on developing the adaptability and decision-making skills needed to succeed in a fast-changing global industry.

Hospitality Finance in Market Context
In this module, you’ll learn the principles of finance in the hospitality industry. You’ll analyse financial statements, assess business performance and create financial strategies that respond to market trends and competition.

Managing People – Contemporary Issues and Challenges
Here, you’ll study employee relations, employment law and HR practices, including the impact of artificial intelligence on the workforce. You’ll also explore diversity, flexibility and the techniques needed to manage people effectively in modern hospitality organisations.

Hospitality Business Strategy and Decision Making
In this module, you’ll manage a simulated hotel business in teams, making strategic decisions across a trading period. By testing different approaches, you’ll see how choices impact operations and learn to adapt strategies in real time.

Live Creative Events Project
You’ll gain practical experience of the events sector by managing a live project. Covering finance, marketing, HR, safety and quality standards, this module gives you the chance to explore the complexity of event management in practice.

YEAR 3 (LEVEL 6)
In your final year, you’ll apply your knowledge to real business challenges, developing sustainable solutions and reflecting on your readiness for leadership roles. You’ll refine your research skills, build your personal brand, and prepare to step confidently into a career in hospitality management or entrepreneurship.

Hospitality Research Project
Here, you’ll carry out a research project that mirrors the responsibilities of a hospitality manager. You’ll investigate workplace problems, propose solutions and present evidence to stakeholders, while reflecting on your own research process and growth.

Digital Marketing and Branding
In this module, you’ll explore how digital media influences culture and consumer behaviour in hospitality. You’ll learn how to use these insights to strengthen critical thinking and develop strategies for creating lasting, recognisable brands.

Sustainable Practices and Planning
You’ll examine how sustainability is embedded in hospitality businesses around the world. The focus is on learning responsible practices that not only benefit the planet but also ensure long-term business success.

Personal Branding and Career Planning
This module will help you evaluate your strengths and career aspirations within the hospitality sector. You’ll build a personal brand and plan your next steps, preparing for leadership roles or entrepreneurial ventures.

The standard entry requirements* for this course are one of the following:
